Final Portfolio

Hey everyone!
Been working on my final portfolio.. went out and shot some today. Been having a lot of trouble with getting permission to be able to photograph in nursing homes around the area, everyone seems to be saying no :(. My Aunt Joanne lives in a nursing home around here, so I went to visit her today and snuck around and took some pictures anyways until I got yelled at! Think it's a little sketchy that it isn't allowed.. but here are a few shots I got today that I'm really liking!

  1. Wow, I really like these & hope you're able to continue with it. I had a similar problem with getting access for a project I'm doing, photographing a family with an autistic child. It can be tough to get institutions to work with you. My advice would be, if you really want to shoot in nursing homes over a period of time, don't force it just to get a project over the next few weeks. I would start with your aunt, spend time with her and just start conversations with her friends there. Ask to take their pictures and keep going. I think it would be more meaningful spending a day with one person than a day trying to photograph as many people as possible. Hope that helps a bit and good luck!

  2. These are gorgeous! They appear to be nicely optimized and have great compositions. I got yelled at for taking pictures in the Goodwill. It can be really unnerving, but I think you have something really beautiful going here. I hope this works out, I'm excited to see your final portfolio!
